Hp envy 4500 wont print on photo paper

I am using HP photo paper and it jams every time.  It acts like it's printing but nothing is generated on the paper.  I can print the photos on plain paper and it works.
This question was solved.

Hey @Mamadee6,
I'm sorry to hear that the firmware update is also failing for you. Ensure you don't have any 'out of paper' or 'paper jam' messages on the screen when you try to send the firmware. If all is fine on the printer when you try to send the firmware it does sound like something may be corrupt in your printers programming.
At this point I'm going to send you a private message with a special printer reset in it. I suggest that you check your private messages and run through the reset I'm going to provide you with. After running the reset be sure to post the result of the reset in this thread and not in the private message as our troubleshooting steps can be helpful to other HP Support Forums users.
Good luck!

I got a new computer runnning windows 8.1. I tried to use the installation disk that came with the printer, but it is not made for windows 8. I tried downloading software from the website, but it only had eprint and that did not work right. I removed it. I really want the hp solutions- I could do so much from my computer with it.

I have just bought a brand new HP printer and had set up on my iMac to print. After a LOT of messing around FINALLY got this to work, BUT one day later upgrades arrived to update my iOS X to 10.9.3 with a simultaneous upgrade to the driver software for the printer. I duly installed both - but now regardless of what I do the printer will not work. The computer can see it as it is showing ink levels etc and says it has printed, and I can print test pages, but it hasn't allowed me to print from Word, Excel, the Web or PDF!!!  I tried uninstalling the printer drivers and re-installing the ones from the HP web which I assume would be the old ones - but still no luck. I need this for work and am near to tears - any help would be much appreciated. I have also tried deleting and re-installing Office for Mac....NB It prints beautifully and effortlessly from my husband's PC.

Have a D5560 printer which suddenly stopped printing with the black cartridge.
Thought it was the cartridge so installed new one (Only use HP cartridges) No difference
On reflection the black just stopped - no gradual fading of quality etc.
Ran cartridge cleaner (all levels of cleaning) No difference
Prints fine if I remove black cartridge so that the tricolour prints the black but thats only good to circumvent the problem
I am running this on Windows 8.1. It has been running fine for months
Cant think that I have had any driver updates installed recently from HP
Have I got a hardware problem?
Thanks for any input
Cheers
Geoff

i have the MFP set up fine for printing over a wireless network.  Any idea on what more i  need to do to get the machine to accept a scan command from the computer using HP Laserjet Scan?

Hello Arch Community, I've been a user of Arch for a while and most of it just worked out of the box. However, I had my HP 6300 working through a direct connection. But a couple of days ago it just broke.
I've tried everything I could think of to make it back but all has been unsuccesful, I removed the printer and tried to add it again (sorry, old Windows habit, there most of the time works), however, I couldn't add the printer, it fails with the error: "Unable to communicate with the device. Please check the device and try again.", I added myself to the ld group (shouldn't matter, but I did it anyway)
I have cups 1.4.2.

Albeit it has errors, I can't see how they are releated (cups does have a conf file, but it seems that *my* user can't access it, expected 'couse it's owned by root). Any ideas?

I have an iMac OS X 10.9.5 and a HP laserjet pro 400 M4Oln . I recently had to get a new hard drive installed and this is the first time since I have needed to print.  At first, it said the printer was offline - couldn't figure out how to fix that so I did the following: restarted printer and computer, updated software on computer (which was up to date) and downloaded the driver for the printer from the HP support site.  I also"reset the printers" - never did that before.
Still not working. I am not seeing the printer in the list of printers available in the Printers and Scanners box in the system preferences.  I click on the + sign and it will not allow me to add a printer - I mean I can't type into the field. I know my mac should just automatically recognize the printer and it always has before, but not now.  When I click on print - In the print box that comes up it says (exclamation point) No Printer Selected. UGH!
Can someone help?

Has anyone figured out how to get the Hp Envy 4500 Printer to keep on printing in Windows 8.1? We have called tech support twice, they remotely accessed our computer to set the drivers correctly. At first the printer worked right maybe once or twice then suddenly it stops printing and we are back where we started from. The Printer is past the 14 day Best Buy Return Policy and we are stuck with it!
